Grace Lore

Grace Lore was first elected as the MLA for Victoria-Beacon Hill in 2020. During her first term, she served as the Parliamentary Secretary for Gender Equity, Minister of State for Child Care, and Minister of Children and Family Development. Upon her re-election in 2024, she was re-appointed as the Minister of Children and Family Development. In late November 2024, Grace was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. She is now taking time away from her duties to focus on treatment and recovery. During her absence, her constituency office remains fully operational, continuing to serve the residents of Victoria-Beacon Hill.

A long-standing advocate against violence, Grace has worked with organizations such as the Victoria Sexual Assault Centre to promote inclusive, accessible, and survivor-centered sexual assault response services. She has also been deeply engaged in community development, serving on the Fernwood, North Park, and Quadra Village Neighbourhood Planning Group, and as a member of a national advisory panel for the Canadian Women’s Foundation. Additionally, she played an instrumental role as an organizer for Affordable Fernwood.

Before entering politics, Grace was a university instructor at the University of Victoria, where she taught Canadian politics, gender and politics, and research methods. Her academic research has explored critical issues such as social media harassment and online violence.

Grace lives in Victoria with her partner and their two young children, and her dedication to public service and community well-being remains unwavering.
